A private alternative to Slack and Microsoft Teams
Channels, DMs, calls and file sharing for your whole organisation, with end-to-end encryption by default so internal conversations stay internal, even from us.
Internal conversations nobody else can read
Every DM is end-to-end encrypted with the Signal Protocol and every group chat with MLS. Encryption keys stay on your employees' devices, so neither Lupyd nor an attacker on our servers can read your messages.
- End-to-end encryption on by default, not a paid add-on
- Keys held on user devices, not by the provider
- Encryption engine (Firefly) is open source and independently verifiable

Channels organised around how your teams work
Give each department, project and client its own channels. Use announcement channels for company-wide updates and private channels for sensitive work like legal, HR or M&A.
- Public, private and announcement channels
- Per-channel access rules and topics
- Invite members and manage access in one place

Permissions that match your org chart
Lupyd has no fixed admin or member tiers. Define roles like Finance, Contractor or Auditor, choose exactly what each one can do, and revoke access the moment someone changes team or leaves.
- Create any role with any combination of permissions
- Channel-specific access rules
- Reassign or revoke access instantly

Share documents without exposing them
Contracts, designs, source code and reports are encrypted with AES on the sender's device before upload and only decrypted on recipients' devices. Encrypted chat backups can be exported and restored.
- Client-side AES encryption for every attachment
- Encrypted export and restore of chat backups

Fast search that never leaves the device
Lupyd keeps a full-text index on each device, so employees can search every DM, group and channel in milliseconds without search terms being sent to or logged by a server.
- Searches messages across all conversations
- No queries sent to a remote server

Encrypted calls and screen sharing
Start voice or video calls with screen sharing from any channel or conversation, encrypted end to end, without switching to a separate meeting tool.
- Voice and video calls built into channels and DMs
- Screen sharing for reviews and demos
- Manage active devices and sessions per user

Lupyd vs Slack and Microsoft Teams
Slack and Teams are mature platforms with huge integration catalogues. Their messages are encrypted in transit and at rest, but the provider holds the keys. Lupyd encrypts end to end, so only the people in a conversation can read it.

Common questions
Is Lupyd an alternative to Slack?
Yes. Lupyd offers the channels, DMs, roles, file sharing and calls teams use Slack for, with every message end-to-end encrypted. Slack encrypts data in transit and at rest but holds the keys itself unless you pay for Enterprise Key Management.
Is Lupyd an alternative to Microsoft Teams?
Yes, for chat, channels, calls and file sharing. Teams only offers end-to-end encryption as an option for certain calls and meetings, while Lupyd encrypts all messages, files and calls end to end by default.
Can Lupyd read our company's messages?
No. Messages are encrypted on the sender's device and only decrypted on recipients' devices. Lupyd's servers only ever see encrypted data, and the Firefly encryption engine is open source so this can be verified.
Can we run Lupyd on our own servers?
Not yet. Federation, which will let organisations run their own Lupyd servers that still talk to the wider network, is on the roadmap.
Which platforms are supported?
